Gone By Midnight

Note: I wrote this during our Humanities class last Sept. 8, 2011. Yes, I know I should’ve been watching that video about the palayok, but the writer in me just couldn’t help expressing herself. Anyhow, it’s a very dark and gloomy piece. So far, people who have read this would have one of two possible reactions. Which reaction would you give out? :)

Gone by Midnight

I’ll be gone by midnight.

Just grant me a moment.

Just hear me out.

It’ll be over before you know it.

I just have to say it out loud,

Just have to get it all out.

Listen for this short while,

‘Cause just as promised,

Come the stroke of 12,

I’ll be saying my last goodbye.

You were gone by midnight.

I granted you a moment.

I heard you out.

It was over before I knew it.

I just had to hear it out loud,

Just had to get it all in.

I listened for that short while,

But never was I prepared

For the stroke of 12,

When you said your last goodbye.
